Work will shortly start on delivering the new Arlesey Relief Road, which will, when completed, link to the A507 and reduce traffic along the High Street. The work will begin on the Arlesey East part of the proposals (the eastern part of the wider Arlesey Cross development), which will link the A507 to Arlesey High Street and ultimately through to a new road west of the High Street.
These initial works will involve the construction of drainage ponds to the north of the site at Chase Farm. Access will be via the existing farm track for this initial phase. Material excavated to create these new drainage ponds will be kept on site and used later in the project thereby limiting the number of vehicle movements during these initial works. The work is scheduled to take place w/c 25 February and will last approximately 3 weeks.
The works include
Site working hours will be limited to 7.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and only where necessary, 8.00am to 1.00pm Saturdays and at no time on Sundays, Bank or Public holidays. It should be noted that all construction works audible at the site boundary will only be undertaken between 8.00am and 5.30pm Mondays to Fridays and 8.00am to 1.00pm Saturdays.
Construction of the relief road itself, including a new roundabout junction on the A507 and mini roundabout on the High Street, is expected to take place later this year.
More details can be seen in the Construction Management Plan. This sets out the standards expected during the construction of the drainage ponds and areas where work will take place.
